Before burning

All our candles are hand-poured in small batches. Allow them to cure for at least 2 weeks from the creation date on the packaging before burning. This helps the fragrance settle and improves the overall burn quality.

Trim the wick to 0.6 cm before every burn. A longer wick tends to flicker, produce soot, and burn unevenly.

During burning

Wax has memory, so the first burn sets the tone. Let the melt pool reach the edges of the candle before extinguishing – this typically takes 1 to 4 hours depending on size. Cutting it short can cause tunnelling, where the wax sinks in the centre and the sides go to waste.

As a general guide, allow one hour of burn time per inch of diameter. A 3-inch candle, for example, should burn for at least 3 hours. Try not to exceed 4 hours in a single session.

After burning

Extinguish with a snuffer rather than blowing out the flame, which can cause hot wax to splatter. Allow the wax to cool and fully solidify before relighting.

If tunnelling occurs

Wrap the top of the candle loosely in aluminium foil with a small opening above the flame. The retained heat will gradually bring the wax surface back to an even level.

Cleaning Your Candle Jar

Once the candle has fully burnt out and cooled, remove any remaining wax using one of these methods.

Freezing method: Place the jar in the freezer for a few hours. The cold causes the wax to contract and harden, making it easy to lift out with tweezers. Wipe the inside clean with a damp or soft microfibre cloth.

Heat method: Use a hair dryer or heat gun to gently warm the wax until it softens, then wipe away with paper towels. Follow with a damp or soft microfibre cloth to clean the surface.

Avoid abrasive or chemical cleaners, which can damage the jar's finish.

About our finish

All jars and trays are coated with a water-based, non-toxic gloss sealer, free from VOCs and heavy metals. The finish is water- and heat-resistant and formulated to hold its shine over time.

To keep your piece looking its best, avoid prolonged water exposure, high-humidity environments, and dishwashers.
