Frequently Asked Questions

What are your candles made of?

Our candles are handcrafted using premium soy wax or beeswax, paired with carefully selected fragrance oils and finished with lead-free cotton or wood wicks. Each piece is made in small batches in Singapore with a focus on thoughtful craftsmanship and lasting quality.

Can I burn my decorative candle?

Yes. While our sculptural candles are designed to be beautiful enough to display, they are fully functional and can be enjoyed as candles.

Because of their unique forms, they may burn differently from traditional pillar or jar candles. We recommend placing them on a heat-resistant dish or tray to catch any melted wax. For the best experience, please refer to our Care page before lighting your candle.

How long will my candle burn?

Every candle burns differently depending on its size, shape and environment.

As a general guide, avoid burning your candle for more than four hours at a time. Sculptural candles typically have shorter burn times than jar candles due to their artistic forms.

Handmade Characteristics

My candle has small imperfections. Is this normal?

Absolutely.

Each Joll Studio piece is individually handcrafted, so subtle variations in colour, texture or finish are part of what makes every candle unique. These natural characteristics are not considered defects, but a reflection of the handmade process.

What is frosting?

Frosting is a natural characteristic of soy wax where a soft white or crystalline film may appear over time.

It occurs because soy wax is a natural material and has no impact on your candle's fragrance, burn quality or performance.

Why has my candle changed colour?

Natural waxes can gradually change colour over time.

Exposure to sunlight, heat and certain fragrance ingredients, particularly those containing vanillin, may cause the wax to develop a warm ivory or yellow tone. This is a natural ageing process and does not affect the quality or performance of your candle.
