Decorative Candle Care & Usage

Our Decorative Candles are designed to be visually stunning and have an excellent cold throw, making them perfect for display. If you choose to burn them, please use a heat-resistant dish to protect surfaces. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

All our candles are hand-poured in small batches. Allow a 2-week curing period (from the creation date listed on the packaging) before burning for an optimal burn.

Before Burning

  • Trim the wick to 0.6cm before each burn to ensure a clean, even flame. A wick that’s too long may flicker, produce soot, or cause uneven burning.
  • Keep the wick centred. A centred wick helps the wax melt evenly and prevents tunnelling.

During Burning

  • The First Burn Matters. Wax has a “burn memory,” so allow the candle to burn long enough for the melt pool to reach the edges, typically 2–4 hours, depending on the candle’s size. If not, tunnelling may occur. Due to their unique shapes, our decorative candles may melt unevenly and have shorter burn times.
  • Candles should burn one hour for every 1 inch in diameter. For example, a candle with a 3-inch diameter should burn for at least 3 hours, or until a full melt pool forms. However, do not exceed 4 hours per burn to prevent overheating.

After Burning

  • Extinguish safely. Avoid blowing out the flame, as it can cause hot wax to splatter. Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame gently.
  • Allow the candle to cool completely and let the wax fully solidify before relighting.

Fixing an Unevenly Burned Candle

  • For tunnelling: Wrap the top of the candle with aluminium foil, leaving a small opening above the flame. The trapped heat will help melt the wax evenly across the surface.
  • For excess wax buildup: Shave or scrape some wax from the sides and place it into the melt pool to help even it out.

Always keep your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and intense heat. This helps preserve the fragrance and prevents warping or melting.
